Who are the "elect" in Matt 24?
It is important to define the term "elect" used in the key passage in Matthew 24 and Mark 13 commonly known as the "Olivet Discourse." The word "elect" simply means "chosen," just as we would use it in common speech today. When we "elect" a president, we are "choosing" a man to fill that office. Since the Bible says "his elect," the passage is referring to God's chosen people. The question is, therefore, who are the elect? Who are God's chosen people?
